Warsaw Uprising: streets that remember
Highlights
- A wall left deliberately unrepaired
- The Uprising Museum, explained on site
- Names read from a memorial wall
- 1944, told through what still survives
- A factual look at a defining event
About this tour
This session follows the Warsaw Uprising Museum out to a nearby wall left deliberately unrepaired and the memorial wall in the museum's grounds. You see the museum building itself, then tangible evidence of the fighting still visible on a nearby facade, finishing at a wall inscribed with names. It is a plain, factual look at the events of 1944 through what still survives to be seen.
We begin at the museum with a short sound check, then move to the wall and finally the memorial, pausing at each to explain what happened there. I keep the tone factual rather than dramatic and take questions throughout. A written list of sources follows afterwards.
It suits anyone with a serious interest in the Uprising's history rather than a general sightseeing session. It also pairs well with a session on the wider Old Town reconstruction for fuller context.

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Warsaw before heading out.
-
Uprising Museum exterior 21 min
The camera opens outside the museum built around the 1944 Uprising, and I explain why this particular site was chosen for it.
-
A bullet-marked wall 21 min
We move to a nearby wall left deliberately unrepaired, and I point out the marks and explain the decision to leave them visible rather than patch them over.
-
Freedom Park memorial wall 21 min
From the museum's memorial wall, the camera reads across a portion of the names inscribed there, and I explain how the list was compiled.
-
Your questions 14 min
Time to ask anything about Warsaw: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Bigos and Old Town, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Warsaw time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
