Katrin Pfeiffer

I was born in Dresden in 1976, when the Frauenkirche was still a pile of blackened stones in the middle of the city and we walked past it on the way to school without thinking about it. I studied Slavic languages in Leipzig, worked as an interpreter for a Saxon glass company in Bohemia for some years, and have been a certified city guide since 2011. I have watched the whole old town rise again, stone by stone, and I think I am allowed to be critical of some of it. My tours try to show both sides of Dresden: the baroque showpiece of Augustus the Strong and the ordinary Neustadt courtyards where people actually live. I have a grown son who studies in Prague and a garden plot where I grow too many beans. I now guide live on video from Dresden, with my phone as the camera and time for your questions all the way through.
