Marta Cabral

I studied local history at university and now spend most of my working week around Praça Gonçalo Velho Cabral, where the black basalt and white plaster buildings are the clearest example of Azorean architecture I know. On camera I walk from the old town gate through to the fort on the waterfront, explaining how the city grew outward from these few streets. I keep my sessions fairly formal and structured, since I think history deserves a clear order rather than a wander. What I like about video guiding is pointing directly at a detail on a facade without anyone standing in the way.
