Matthias Pichler

I trained as a musician before I started guiding, so I can explain exactly why the house where Mozart was born looks so unremarkable from outside compared with its reputation. On camera I also walk past the Festspielhaus, where the Salzburg Festival still stages world-class opera each summer, and I explain how the building's acoustics were designed. I keep my sessions focused on music history specifically, rather than a general walk through the old town. I answer technical questions on the festival and the composer in detail, since that is where my own background actually sits.
