My father had a small lokanta in Kadıköy and I washed dishes there from age twelve, so I know the market streets on the Asian side like my own kitchen. At night I run a meyhane evening in Beyoğlu with meze, rakı and the long conversation that goes with it. I also do a village breakfast on the Bosphorus and a day on Büyükada, the largest of the Princes' Islands. I am serious about that part. Now I show Istanbul live on a video call, phone in hand, and I answer questions as they come.
