History is my subject, and I like showing how much of it sits in Cimiez, the hill above the centre with Roman ruins and a monastery garden most visitors never reach. Closer to the sea, I run a session on the Russian Orthodox Cathedral, built for a community of wealthy Russian visitors who wintered here a century ago. On camera I try to explain why a building exists rather than only naming its style, since that usually makes more sense of what is on screen. I studied local history before I ever picked up a phone to guide with.
