I have watched Plaza de España change more than almost any other square in the city over the years I have lived nearby. On camera I walk the square as it looks now, then separately the Sabatini Gardens on the palace's north side, a quieter approach most visitors miss entirely. I keep both sessions to a steady, unhurried pace, since squares and gardens reward looking rather than walking quickly through. I grew up nearby and still notice small changes each time I come back, which I try to point out rather than assume you already know.
